Liz Lessner, MFA ’16, awarded Fulbright Research Scholarship to Brazil

Congratulations to Liz Lessner, MFA '16, on being the recipient of a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to conduct research in Brazil! About her proposed research, Liz writes:

I'll be going to Brazil to research Lygia Clark’s writings, process, and works at her archives in Rio de Janeiro. This research will inform subsequent experimentation and collaboration at the CrossLab Research Group and the Lab for Innovation and Prototyping at the University of Fortaleza in Ceará and the Department of Expressions and Languages at the Federal University of Rio De Janeiro. Building on Clark’s ideas about performance, social relationships, and sensory experience, my work with Dr. Clarissa Ribeiro at the University of Fortaleza and Dr. Fernando Salis at the Federal University of Rio De Janeiro will involve prototyping interactive objects and collaborating with students, artists, and technologists to investigate how these objects affect sensory perception and the ways in which these objects can be used in performance, health related activities, and in creating experiences that reframe our understanding of how we interact with one another.
