Game Studies: Prerequisites

The prerequisites have been selected to provide students with sufficient basic knowledge to proceed successfully with the certificate. They ensure that students have an introduction to thinking critically about media and media aesthetics, a basic understanding of computer programming, and college level analytical skills.

DMS 110 Programming for Digital Art

DMS 121 Basic Digital Arts or
ART 250 Intro to Digital Practices

ART 140 Time Based Strategies or
DMS 259 Intro to Media Analysis or
DMS 220 Machines, Codes and Culture

These prerequisites can be substituted for equivalent classes and experiences with consultation/permission of Game Studies Advisors (include explanation of classes/experience equivalent to prerequisites as part of your application).
