Game studies programs
have to cover a large and expanding field, addressing the phenomenon of
video gaming as art-form; social context; cultural practice; market
phenomenon; and technology driver. The elective courses detailed below
offer some possible paths into that field, but we expect to expand the
possible avenues of research and study as different disciplines across
the university develop courses. The individual’s choice of electives
should serve as a bridge between this certificate and his/her major,
and will lead to different outcomes.
Students must complete
four courses or at least 13 credits from the following list. The list
of electives will be updated to accommodate new courses or one-time
course offerings. Students can petition for the inclusion of relevant courses to the list of electives.
