Roy Roussel received his BA in Philosophy from Rice University and his Ph.D.
in English Literature from The Johns Hopkins University. He is the author of
two books – The Metaphysics of Darkness, a study in the fiction
of Joseph Conrad and The Conversation of the Sexes, a study of gender
in several 17th and 18th century texts. In addition, he has written articles
on a range of subjects.
He is presently working on a project entitled `Talking About Dying’
which investigates the relation between the various popular, legal and medical
discourses around end-of-life care and the actual social practices which determine
this care.
