REASONS FOR CURRENT STUDENTS, TRANSFERING STUDENTS AND INCOMING FRESHMEN TO TAKE MEDIA STUDY SUMMER COURSES:
If you are entering UB as a freshman and you know you want an early start to be sure you can fulfill all your basic requirements on time you can take:
- DMS 101 Basic Video which fulfils one of your three basic media production courses
- DMS 213 Immigration and Film which fulfils both a Gen Ed requirement, a Media and Culture requirement in the Media Study major as well as a requirement in Film Studies if you choose this for a minor.
- DMS 108 Film History II Contemporary Cinema which fulfils a requirement in the Media Study Major.
If you are a DMS student and you have passed portfolio and you need intermediate and advanced production you can take:
- DMS 315 Intermediate Video in the first session
- and a DMS 400 Level Production Course in the second session.
- Note: There is no advanced production course in film/video scheduled for the fall, 2010 semester.
If you are either a transfer or a DMS student and need to pass portfolio review in order to advance to intermediate and advanced production in the fall you can take:
- DMS 215 – Portfolio Class.
- There will be a portfolio review for students who produce work in the summer immediately after the end of the second session. This will allow those who pass this review to enroll in intermediate and advanced courses in the fall.
