Prof. Laura Kraning’s film wins Jury Award at Marseille, France Film Festival

Dec 7th 2017

Congratulations to new Media Study faculty member Professor Laura Kraning! Her latest film Meridian Plain was awarded the Jury Award for Short Film at the Rencontres Internationales Sciences & Cinémas Film Festival in Marseiiles, France. The jury writes:

A film that mobilizes the language of experimental and structural cinema to frame images and sounds strange and alienated. We noticed not only the hypnotic work that she does through her method of editing, but also through the remarkable sound work. What is so external, ultimately, also becomes an interior and emotional landscape, and helps us to understand the new exploratory terrain from mechanical technology of visualization
